Comeau

Pierre was born in France and was the first Comeau to arrive in Acadie. He was a cooper by profession. He and his descendants, lived at Port-Royal. These descendants were deported from Port-Royal in December of 1755. After the Treaty of Paris, 1763, many returned to Port-Royal and eventually made their way to the new Acadian community of la Baie Sainte Marie, where my family still lives.

When searching for information on the Comeau family name, different name variations are often seen: Comau, Commau, Commeau, Commo, Como, Comot.
